Understanding the Sorghum–Colletotrichum sublineola Interactions for Enhanced Host Resistance

چکیده
Improving sorghum resistance is a sustainable method to reduce yield losses due anthracnose, devastating disease caused by Colletotrichum sublineola . Elucidating the molecular mechanisms of sorghum– C. interactions would help identify biomarkers for rapid and efficient identification novel sources host-plant improvement, understanding pathogen virulence, facilitating breeding. Despite concerted efforts sources, knowledge about sorghum–anthracnose remains scanty. Hence, in this review, we presented an overview current on sorghum- interactions, breeding, quantitative trait loci (QTL), major ( R -) gene sequences as well defense-related genes associated with anthracnose resistance. We summarized populations its virulence. Illustration interaction model based also provided. highlighted importance genomic resources both organisms integrated omics research unravel key components underpinning compatible incompatible interactions. Furthermore, sorghum-breeding strategy employing germplasm screening, systems biology, tools presented.

Utilization of a silkworm model for understanding host-pathogen interactions
Studies of the interactions between humans and pathogenic microorganisms require adequate representative animal infection models. Further, the availability of invertebrate models overcomes the ethical and financial issues of studying vertebrate materials. Insects have an innate immune system that is conserved in mammals. The recent utilization of silkworms as an animal infection model led to th...
متن کاملUnderstanding Host-Pathogen Interactions with Expression Profiling of NILs Carrying Rice-Blast Resistance Pi9 Gene
Magnaporthe oryzae infection causes rice blast, a destructive disease that is responsible for considerable decrease in rice yield. Development of resistant varieties via introgressing resistance genes with marker-assisted breeding can eliminate pesticide use and minimize crop losses. Here, resistant near-isogenic line (NIL) of Pusa Basmati-1(PB1) carrying broad spectrum rice blast resistance ge...
متن کاملTowards an Integrative Understanding of Diet–Host–Gut Microbiome Interactions
Over the last 20 years, a sizeable body of research has linked the microbiome and host diet to a remarkable diversity of diseases. Yet, unifying principles of microbiome assembly or function, at levels required to rationally manipulate a specific individual's microbiome to their benefit, have not emerged. A key driver of both community composition and activity is the host diet, but diet-microbi...

Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) is one of the most widely used probiotic strains. Various health effects are well documented including the prevention and treatment of gastro-intestinal infections and diarrhea, and stimulation of immune responses that promote vaccination or even prevent certain allergic symptoms. However, not all intervention studies could show a clinical benefit and even for t...
متن کاملTrichomonas vaginalis: current understanding of host-parasite interactions.
Trichomonas vaginalis is a sexually transmitted obligate extracellular parasite that colonizes the human urogenital tract. Despite being of critical importance to the parasite's survival relatively little is known about the mechanisms employed by T. vaginalis to establish an infection and thrive within its host. Several studies have focused on the interaction of the parasite with host cells and...
